I said he smoked some weed from California (most likely) and freaked out, but the shooter remains responsible for every round that he fired.NeonVomit wrote:So it's actually California which is responsible for this!!! A web of lies within lies!!!!

The shooter had a bunch of right wing conspiracy stuff on his computer, and he had posted a bunch of youtube vids regarding his beliefs which are conspiracy theories.
He had a plan for assassinating this congresswoman.
All of that has been discussed on every media. No need to rehash it.
Arizona is the most liberal gun state--odds are it won't be much longer.

why are people allowed that many bullets in that quick amount of time? in any defense situation where that many bullets are needed the person would be killed by another person before being able to fire all those bullets.
Re: Arizona Rep. Giffords shot in the head.
Funny you should say that, there was a run on the Glock model with the 30 round clip option shortly after the shooting.

(because, y'know, there's the whole gun control debate to consider as well and I feel we haven't run around in enough circles about it so far)
And just when we thought things couldn't get any stupider...
...they do.
One-day sales of handguns in Arizona jumped 60 percent, two days after the shooting, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation data, reports Bloomberg News. Ohio saw the biggest jump in handgun sales, while Illinois, New York and California also saw siginificant increases. Nationally, one-day handgun sales rose 5 percent.

I just don't understand America's obsession with guns. Having guns is patriotic? Apparently the Patriot Act is patriotic too because it has the word Patriot? Is Mel Gibson any more patriotic than Reagan?
I ask: Why isn't Ron Paul getting the attention he deserves? Sanders, an independent, filibustered the Bush Tax Cuts by giving an 8-hour speech. Now that's patriotic!
We all define the word Patriot differently, but I think the word Patriot in the US is outdated. Or, to say the least, widely misused.

ICECAR!!! Don't they have wallmarts in WASHINGTON? You can walk in there and buy a bunch of bullets for the lulz anytime you want. 24/7.icecab21 wrote:why are people allowed that many bullets in that quick amount of time? in any defense situation where that many bullets are needed the person would be killed by another person before being able to fire all those bullets.

Hmmm, the government has disarmed citizens before- and here is a recent example:
Emergency Powers Laws
Standing Guard--Remember New Orleans
http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Articles/R ... 8&issue=55
The only way to safeguard our 2nd Amendment rights is to continue to have a heavily armed citizenry. Fucking machine guns (Class III FFL) were banned in 1986, I believe. The only thing the ban accomplished was to make the price go through the roof on M-16's, etc. for legal collectors, while criminals could give less of a shit about a Class III stamp and NCIS background check when they purchase an automatic weapon.
In Mexico, the only place to buy weapons legally is from the federal armory in Mexico City, and even then, most citizens are restricted to very small caliber weapons, such as a .22 LR- or do you think that the criminals and the cartels are getting fully automatic AK-47's and RPG's from the tooth fairy?
The best method of defense against imbeciles such as the Tuscon shooter is to switch from carrying a single Glock 19 to Akimbo- and have a pair on hand, along with a good shoulder rig from Bianchi or Uncle Mike's- and don't forget the spare, high-capacity magazines.

(We haven't used 'clips' since the M1 Garand, of which Obungler just banned the import of nearly 1,000,000 of these fine rifles from South Korea, even though they are U.S. military surplus.)

Again, you can't politicize this. Shooting a congresswoman in the face is not the political platform of the democrats, nor the republicans. He was a complete nut.
I also can't understand how this incident could be exploited to ban guns. 6,600 Americans die every day from various causes. 6 extra deaths isn't even a blip on the radar. Its not even statistically significant.

Does miditek carry 5 guns on him when he goes grocery shopping? The half dead lobsters shit their pants when they see him walking by. A10, now we have become just a number? Just a statistic? You cruel, cold hearted shrew robot from Assachusetts.

Gun goes with me everywhere I go- I typically wear either a jacket, sport coat or blazer year round to conceal my shoulder rig/harness.
The only places that I don't go into armed are a) client's offices, b) church, and c) government/business offices that are clearly display a "No Weapons" sign. The thing is, most other people are never aware that I am armed, and proper concealment is most definitely a tactical advantage.
For instance, if I were sitting in a fast food joint and witnessed an armed robbery in progress, then I probably wouldn't do anything. Whatever cash that's in the drawer isn't worth anyone's life.
Now if one or more of the robbers began shooting employees or other customers, then that becomes an entirely different story. If it were possible to get the drop on the assailants (all situations are different), then I wouldn't hesitate to use whatever means were available to stop the shooter.
While my state allows for "open carry" in addition to "concealed carry", I'm of the opinion that "open carry" is an invitation for trouble. The hypothetical robbers in the fast food place would most likely shoot the first armed citizen that they saw carrying a weapon openly. Also, most people get really nervous when they see a person in plainclothes carrying a weapon in the open. There is no need to make other people feel nervous unnecessarily, so concealment and handgun safety are two of my own top priorities whenever I am in public.
The shooter in Tuscon was obviously a deranged moron that was already under investigation for making threats (why did the fucking sheriff not disarm the perpetrator as soon as the complaints came in? It is certainly within any county sheriff's authority to disarm any citizen that poses a threat- and the state of Arizona as well as the FBI would have records of any legal, retail firearms purchases made by the suspect.)
Personally, I hope that the chicken shit son-of-a-bitch gets the death penalty at the very least for killing a young child, and not to mention the other deaths and injuries. Of course, the left will bitch and complain about this endlessly if he does get death.

Nearly half a million other Tennesseans hold CCW permits also, in addition to millions of other citizens in the thirty or forty or so states that issue carry permits to its residents.
That's a fairly significant number, and the crime rate for that particular demographic is among the lowest of any on record.

I have never met one person who carried a gun. What are the statistics on carrying guns? What is the chance you will have to play Bill The Kid? It's just crazy.

Re: Arizona Rep. Giffords shot in the head.
Sarah Palin and many of her ilk have gotten hundreds of death threats since Saturday.
And, even "liberals" support the death penalty for the one responsible for the massacre.

Not sure what statistics that you're looking for, but here is a map of RTC (Right to Carry) states.I have never met one person who carried a gun. What are the statistics on carrying guns? What is the chance you will have to play Bill The Kid? It's just crazy.
RTC States

Also, most- if not all, RTC states also have reciprocity agreements, i.e., TN permits are recognized in GA, FL, TX, etc.
Regarding having to play "Billy the Kid", it should be noted that William Bonney was an outlaw, armed robber, and a murderer. So it's my wish that I'll never have to open fire on anyone at any time, but if comes down to me or a thug, then the thug is going to have some holes in his forehead.
The laws in Tennessee regarding the use of deadly force are very, very specific and such force can be used only in life-threatening circumstances.

But, yes. I'll have to agree with the stop politicizing the event. We were all a little upset, especially where the event took place. Arizona is having a really rough time politic-wise. Huge gap between parties.
However I can't help to think that... what if the shooter was an illegal alien? Will the court pass the controversial SB1070 law? What if the shooter was a muslim? Will it be called a terrorist act? What if the shooter was black? Will he be convicted to death immediately?
What if he was another asian wacko?
SIDE NOTE: Thanks to everyone in this forum who are contributing and speaking their minds. It's one of those healthy discussions we needed to have. Thumbs up to everyone regardless of their views.
