Not really similar enough to make me even think Matias was thinking Erotomania when he wrote that.

Yeah, i totally agree, this isn't a rip off at all. Just sound similar which is cool! Bashing it's not my intention.

Matias rules more than petrucci actually IMO!!!!

Can't wait to see him here in Monterrey. I will go alone to the concert because my friends told me "if tolkki is not coming i wont go" So i say to them, Stupid friends!

A lot of people here tell me that if it's not Tolkki the guitarist then they won't go, but i always make them watch the attitude medley from Matias on youtube!! That's a killer compilation of solos!!!! And if someone doesn't like it, go to hell! He is awesome.

Cheers!

Eduardo.

I'm almost sure that both parts are partially borrowed from a piece of classical music.

Long time ago there was a composer called Antonio Vivaldi, who played that part with violin and wrote it up to the notes. I didn´t found that one but this one is great too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWx_GyTL ... re=related

Yeah, the main influences here are Vivaldi and Bach, by the way it's the only moment in DT discography where JP is so "classical". Generally his playing is much more atonal in contrary to Romeo, Matias or Malmstein.

Actually, the beginning of the solo in Darkest hours is influenced by the beginning of the DT song Lie.

But hey, influence is à good thing, at least when it comes from Petrucci:)

I agree there's just something ... mechanical about Petrucci's playing for me.

He has great technique and all but so do a lot of guys and it then becomes a question of feel which Matias has big time for me.

Still I've always preferred Scandinavian guitarists for some reason :P
