There are 2 options. The exact quote by eternity_strato was "the YES is winning". He used the definite article. At the time of his post, the first "yes" was winning, however, it is losing now.

He didn't, but taking a look at the results one could see which one he meant. "The yes" that was winning at the time of his post was the first one. The second one was losing. Now it's the other way around.

And yeah, I know, that was a rather lame attempt at a joke. But I really didn't have anything better to do at the moment.
