Music thats made you cry.

Post by Southern_Stratofan » Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:53 am

Good evening all,

Nervously, I will openly admit that some music/songs have made me cry.

Not necessarily out of sorrow, or even joy. Not even if the music reminds me of something in my life.

Just the music itself, has created the need to shed tears, whatever the emotion.

Has anyone else felt the same? I will mention that some Strato songs have done this.

Please, I didnt make this thread to endure name-calling, even though its beyond my control. Im just wanting to share thoughts with others here in a "relatively" civil manner. :)
Im searching for something. I do not know what, nor do I know what will happen when I find it.

Oh boy! Music feels general.

When Mountains Fall always gets me. I wish I could see her again, hopefully not in her grave.

I always cry at the ending part of "Destiny", especially when the band plays it live. Just makes me think of someone special in my life who I lost. The same thing also happens whenever I see Nightwish play "Higher Than Hope" live; I think of the same person there too.

So much music makes me cry, but I am a woman so I guess it's probably par for the course. I'd be here all day naming the various songs that have made me shed a tear throughout my life; whether out of feelings of sorrow or because the song just moved me that much.

Me? Cry? Never! The most beautiful music in the world is sad music! One ignorant fool once said that all my music is only good for funerals. (Why not tho) So why shud I cry? Death is not the end, it's just a beginning! :P

I only cried the "Father" song in the Hymn to Life album. My father's awesome, but the song's made in a way, the music, the lyrics, I could feel the sadness

Quite a few Stratovarius songs are tearjerkers, whether that was intentional when they were published, I don't know. I guess "touching" is in the eye of the beholder, i guess.(Tears of Ice, 4000 Rainy Nights, Million Miles Away, and Destiny, and Forever do it every time)

Other artists that touch my heart are Barry Manilow, some of Elton John's songs, etc, etc, the list is endless. I think most bands including Metal bands have a few songs which touch the heart and soul.
"Your life is yours, and yours alone. Rise up and live it!"

Archangel Michael: That's OK, Bob, because He doesn't believe in you, either!~Legion~

tears of ice almost made me cry the first time I heard it, but one that still stands to this day, as the only music that makes me cry like a little girl is this.

I cried when I heard Edguy's last album, because it made me punch myself in the face repeatedly.

:) I was 13 and heard Tchaikovskys Pathetique, with full orchestra, for the first time, and I almost drowned in tears. My parents tried to comfort me, but at last we had to leave.

I felt the beauty and sorrow, at the same time, and that symphony still makes my soul tremble and wake my tear-glands...

Wow; what a sensitive old soul you must have been at such a young age. But also, I just love to hear about young people who can enjoy classical music; it's so rare, at least among people in my country. Most Americans look at classical music as "boring" or "old fuddy-duddy music", which is an opinion I obviously do not share. I may not necessarily be familiar with particular pieces or certain composers, but I have always had a great appreciation for this kind of music.

I was, sadly, no better. Music was making me cry as a child.

But ill list the Strato songs that "emotionally move" me;

- Eagleheart
- Million Lightyears Away
- Destiny
- Move The Mountain
- Coming Home
- SOS
- Forever

This one gets me. The video highlights the agony and ecatasy of his life, and knowing that he was in his final few months of life when he recorded it, and nailed it in one take, just sends shivers down my spine. What a voice, what a talent, what a loss to the music world.
