Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
Yeah...yeah...
Can you see if they went after Cannibal Corpse with such song titles as "Stripped, raped and strangled" and "Fucked with a knife?"

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I don't think the opposition is broadly against violence or aggression. Marxism is running wild in the west right now and for you to get "cancelled" you have to touch on some "holy" subject such as LGBT, women, or racial minorities (and only specific racial minorities for some reason). In some sense its because everyone is trying to be a hero and advocate for hot topic issues (you can blame social media for that in part). Media propaganda and the broken education system also shares much of the blame. When kids are being bombarded with propaganda about Martin Luther King and slavery for twelve years straight, don't be surprised if they tear down George Washington's statue when they graduate.
This rampant marxism is heralding in the total cultural and societal collapse of the west and paving the way for countries with, if not better, perhaps more practical belief systems to lead the way into the 21st century. As an American, its quite a sad thing to behold.

Thank goodness for the availability of educational resources on the internet, because when I graduated from high school, I had a very fuzzy & incomplete understanding of Marxism, communism, and politics. The history curriculum in the U.S. is an absolute disgrace. Not even a mention of civics in the curriculum either (in high school, anyway). Instead, we have this half-baked course called Social Studies. With the massive amount of Marxist propaganda students are exposed to in college, it's no wonder so many of them come out as useful idiots. You need to be either brainwashed, bat-shit insane, or opportunistic to support Marxism.
A classless society simply cannot exist; it is against human nature, which is inherently hierarchical. Thus, it is only the governing body which benefits from a Marxist society, while everyone else is left with naught but impoverishment.
Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I’m in no way an expert on this subject. I just know how some people’s lives have been ruined because of some joke they made 20 years ago, stuff like that.
I came from a time where people called you gay in school, they were bullying you. Now it seems like in some cases they’re complimenting you now. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t give a shit either way what people do. I’ve had experience with this because my first name rhymes with GAY. Nice way to bully me, yep.
Kids would be locked up now for some of the shit they did back then.
I just agreed with them last year of school and said “yeah, you’re right guys, I’ll suck your dicks right now!!”
They backed away and didn’t know what to say.

It's really terrible that this happens to people. Imagine a world without jokes, without humor... it's not a world I'd ever take a liking to. FFS, jokes are meant to be edgy... People have become incorrigibly frail.
Reverse psychology never disappoints.

My bad, I meant I told them I’d blow them all and not the other way around.
This all was from 2001, my memory is a bit fuzzy.
Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
The thing behind it all that seems obvious is that there is no human who ever lived who didn't make mistakes. Guys could have grown up being edgy saying and doing edgy things. Later on in life he would go on to be more mature for example. It seems to me a lot of younger kids born in the 2000s are all like this. (Generalization, but still. ) Where posting to Twitter or some shit about whatever some actor or comedian said once means the whole army of those kids have to go after him. Although some guys don't change their views. It seems just too narrow-minded seeing if they start stopping peoples careers because of something small, they are just throwing the baby out with the bathwater. NOW...where do you draw the line, when do people actually deserve it? Fuck if I know, bud. These kind of kids pretty much make their own rules up now it seems. Who is going to hold me accountable for bringing a vibrator to school back in the early 2000s?

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
The news appear to follow the trends on social media as well. Yesterday my local news showed a video of "excessive police force" but you can clearly see the suspect resisting arrest.
Ratings are what dictates the news. And the news are what dictates information. Every damn ad you see during prime time is so that the company doesn't get investigated by the broadcast's journalists.
The NYT has become a garbage pool of opinions that people want to hear, rather than they need to hear. Investigative journalism, which does bring real change, is dead within the mainstream media.
I suggest you guys watch/read independent news that have little to no advertisement revenue. Those are the ones that tell the real news.

But why only leftist issues are capable of generating ratings? I think the deeper problem is that 95% of reporters/journalists are all hardcore socialist/progressive types (as most people who pass through humanities programs in college). Plus an underlying bullying culture if you don't tow the line:NeverendingAbyss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:01 pmRatings are what dictates the news. And the news are what dictates information.

I think a similar bullying/cancel culture would exist in certain areas of academia (climate change, womens studies, african american studies, etc) if you have any opinion or belief contrary to the widely accepted narrative.

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
In my opinion, because it's "trendy." Remember when the confederate statues were part of a debate a few years ago? Right before Floyd was killed, that debate was virtually dead. No one on the news talked about it again until recently. Social media is plagued by youngsters and thoughtful* people who think the system is rigged (and rightly so) and try to bring attention to an issue, but companies have leached off these issues to create PR stunts. In the 90s, not one company dared to say they supported gay people. Now it seems that every company celebrates "gay pride month", running ads claiming they have "AlWaYs SuPpOrTeD gAy PeOpLe". These marketing campaigns became synonymous with the current trend, effectively creating a positive feedback loop. News have become so lackluster that anything showing up on social media as viral is, to them, worth covering.AAAAAAAAAA wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 8:29 pmBut why only leftist issues are capable of generating ratings?.NeverendingAbyss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:01 pmRatings are what dictates the news. It is now trendy to support the black community. I welcome this. Yet, several minority groups still need the recognition that blacks are getting. It's not funny to say the "n-word", but boy is it funny to make fun of a "wetback" crossing the border in an inhospitable desert.
*Note: thoughtful is not equivalent to smart.

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
How coincidental! I was just talking to robocop on FB about this very thing, a few days ago. Yes, the media outlets focus on entertainment/shock value first and news stories second (which are almost always cherry picked).NeverendingAbyss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:01 pmRatings are what dictates the news. It's like the goal is to achieve a sort of hive-mind mentality, where no one is allowed to have their own opinion on certain topics if it conflicts with the narrative. It's ridiculous. The fact that they feel opposing voices must be silenced indicates to me that their narratives would fall apart without their incessant coercion. Censorship is a sign of weakness which is always inspired by fear, and in this case, it is the fear of their narrative getting steamrolled by their opposition.
I fear this is a façade. BLM, the organization, supports black people as much as the Patriot Act supports patriotism. In other words, not at all; that is not their intended goal. Their true goal is to address class inequality, because they are, in reality, a Marxist movement. Choosing the name "Black Lives Matter" was very clever of them, because any dissent would be seen (by the young gullible people) as an attack on the idea of black lives mattering (which, of course, they do... duh), and not as a criticism of the organization itself. It's just like how being against something called the Patriot Act sounds bad at face value. If people were to read about it, they'd find it to not be quite as patriotic as its name leads you on to think. For instance, I don't remember the mass surveillance of citizens being a particularly patriotic value...NeverendingAbyss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:07 pmIt is now trendy to support the black community. Tolkki's safe. Last time I checked, dating a girl in her early 20's as a man in his mid 50's is not illegal, nor does it constitute pedophiliac tendencies (because a 20-something year old is not a child). While some may see the age disparity as weird, personally, I don't care that Tolkki does this. I get it, Tolkki likes his women young and attractive, as do I. I honestly don't know much about South America, but I don't believe they have a cancel culture there.

I think it’s funny as hell this guy trying to act like a guru Jesus figure only fucks young girls. Virgins only.
Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I don't think anyone will give a shit about Tolkki for a couple of reasons:
- He's not famous anymore
- He's poor and can't be milked for money
On top of that sexual harassment is on old topic bonded to "me too" movement and, nowadays, community seems more interested in LGBTQIwhatever+ and #BlackLivesMatter/"racism" stuff.
In a few months, or maybe years, the wheel will turn again but, atm, it's s not in the media's spotlight.
Again, I'm an European and cannot fully understand USA, a lot of things sounds weird: it seems you can't really have a confrontation on social matters, there are only fights; you cannot have a mixed opinion: either you're from the left or from the right, no personal opinions allowed nor out-of-the-box thinking granted; everything comes down to a political battle between Democrats and Republicans.
Kinda weird, I must say!
Here in Italy, and Europe as well, this kind of behavior was uncommon until the so-called populist politicians, like Matteo Salvini, imported this bad habits: using social themes as a tool to gain consensus brought intolerance and SJWs.
That's why we're stunned and overexposed to this: we're not familiar with it at all and people reacted to this as if it were a football match instead of a social debate.
I'm promoting social inclusiveness since I can recall: my mother is 62 and always told me to respect the others no matter what religion, sexual orientation or ideas and my father (born in 1934 and died in 2013) was a famous archeologist and museum director and always had an open mind but, even tho I'm against discrimination, I'm strongly against this "cancel culture" as well.
You cannot pretend to erase everything you're unconfortable with just because, in your opinion, is wrong: we live in an imperfect society but the society itself improved a lot with generational changes and this tell us one thing, society is dynamic and changing at its own pace, it is useless to force changes because, in fact, those changes will occur spontaneously with the next generations.
It is right to talk about important social issues but it is wrong to pretend that things change overnight and it is also stupid to pretend that cultures completely different from the western one adapt to a model promoted because it is considered "right" and "democratic". Even in western countries the model isn't the same!
It is right, however, to ask that social disparity shrinks more and more, but with the right times and means: to ask for the legitimization of more and more subgroups and sub-categories, absurdly, increases discrimination and it should be understood that every person would deserve respect as a person .
By this I am not saying that it is right to accept racist or violent ideas but that we cannot prevent people to have their own ideas and opinions because we all have freedom of thought and speech until we violate the law and, in fact, the society cannot act as a court or a police force.
Progressivism, Liberalism, Marxism are all good things but the mindless and violent application of certain principles is utterly wrong and completely anti-democratic and against freedom itself.
Again, I'm speaking as a 30 years old Italian born and raised within an open minded family but influenced by my culture and my environment, I'm not pretending to be right at all, I'm just contextualizing my ideas

Pancio for president 2020.
Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I will be worse than Buchanan, probably: not for the same reasons tho.
But yes, I don't think I'm good enough even as a building administrator
I'm actually not interested in politics at all, I prefer to relate to it on a sociological level and be informed about worldwide going ons, although I understand that it's impossible to have an "univocal and fair" version about something that is ideologically and culturally distant from me: we tend to filter everything in a non-neutral way since our background is an idissoluble part of us (even if we are very critical towards our country/society) and I don't want to label my "culture" as perfect or as a reference model for every other culture and I think this should be a good critical starting point.
Unfortunately there are people who are completely enslaved by the culture of others and others too convinced of being in the perfect country and hence the internal struggles.
Let's add the need to have each country to a completely forced tolerance standard and, well, here is the "cancel culture".
Fortunately I don't feel I need someone else's consent to joke or troll and I don't even have a public image to defend so? I don't give a fuck about salty moralists, I joke about everything, even about my dead father (I wouldn't be a good president, do you remember?)
Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
True, true.
So I’m seeing there is a bit of cancel culture that has been going on in metal. Some of what I’m seeing is from metal sucks the blog and a girl named grim kim, Kim Kelly. Something about black metal bands, nazi black metal, drama, antifa protesting their concerts.
I don’t care. I’m just adding that because above I said there wasn’t much of that in metal.

Holy, holy, holy Pancio. God all powerful and mighty. Creator of heaven and earth. It has been 90 years since my last confession. These are my sins.

Key to the universe is apologizing for calling Frontiers "MAFIA". He wants to release another Avalon album through them and after that's over, he'll go back to calling them "MAFIA" or something worse. Do not fear, Tolkki has been channeling the good energies to make this happen.

Sure, Tolkki, I'm sure you didn't know what mafia means... I'm calling massive bullshit; it's a petty excuse and he knows exactly what he said, but now he has to play nice with Frontiers because he wants to release another album through them. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you...

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
Frontiers is from Naples, and you may know Naples to be one of the most corrupted city in Italy.
Mafia origins can be found in Sicily, Ndrangheta in Calabria while Camorra is from Campania: that's why a lot of Northern Italians "hate" the southern part of the country and that's why a lot of people associate Naples with this kind of things.
Frontiers is also known for its "tight" control over its projects and some problem with other musicians emerged as well, but Tolkki trying to be controversial is like... Predictable and stupid
The problem is that he stated multiple times the whole
label is a mafia company for money laundering and he hoped the Covid19 would hit them and this is a little bit too much: "Concerto en el Sofa", Wayne Noon's podcast and his (Tolkki) profile are full of evidences.
Surely Frontiers is not that bad but, as a label, is bad because of their approach with artists and music: they're like an assembly line, they're constantly throwing low-budget shit on the market with the hope that people will buy it just because of the namea and, to me, this kills the quality.
But that's me
What can I say? I hope Frontiers will cut every connections with him after Avalon IV not because of his words but because of the music: the first Avalon was good but the second and the third are awful and the fourth is already a big question mark and yes, like Zenith said Tolkki is going to repeat himself again and again.
But he is the new messiah, right? At least for his dumb fans. They would support him even if he raped a child: the key to the universe is love, isn't it?
Do you believe Tolkki's cum tastes like McDonald's?
