well lauri as a very good and charismatic bass player, i saw him live when kotipelto came to argentina and he made the best bass solo that i ever saw

but i think he played with a 5 string bass

Tolkki could be nice bassist :D
At Twilight Time he was good (even the bass-credits were to Jari Behm, who never played anything to the album  )

Well I trust TT to pick a great new bassist, even though it is sad that Jari has left... he is a nice kind polite person, and seems a steady guy to have around when things are not so perfect. I hope that they are all still good friends.

I'm probably going to be hated for saying this, but anygays: even though I do believe Jari's leaving is true, who knows FOR SURE this isn't just another publicity stunt? Stratovarius have released a lot of bullshit as "official news" before.

Jabi, I think it would be a possibility, but I truly believe it's mostly due to Tolkki's mental problems (that were a part the official news you are refering to, i guess))
This is what I wrote in Kotipelto forum about it :
"I don't think it's a marketing thing.
I'd rather say it's a "star" syndrome. You know, when you are used to read your name everywhere, that people says "he is a great song writer, his band is great", and suddently no one speaks about you anymore, you want to feed the machine so you can see and hear your name again and again, and not think you are a "loser". For example some actors or musicians can fall into deep depression when their music doesn't sell anyone."
I think I might be right on that part.

People might hate me here, but I am pretty sure the Stratovarius soap opera of last year was just the beginning, and that Tolkki's health is doing bad again. Hopefully I'm wrong.

:( :( I think you are absolutely right :( Tolki seems to be a very sick man and someone ought to take him by force to a psykiatrist. Very soon ,before he destrois his and others life.

I got the idea that he seems to be getting better...

Is it unbelievable that Jari would want to leave? Maybe he is gonna have a baby or does not want to leave Heidi or is just sick of touring. Maybe he can't understand Timo's illness. Maybe he is just sick of the press limelight. Maybe he wants to walk down the street without ppl asking him "what is this maniac dance all about?"

Until someone makes an official statement, we are not going to know. I hope that Jari posts something, or writes something for the homepage.

Cliff, I think that kind of speculation can be harmful, because people believe it instead of trusting their own judgement. None of us knows what's really going on.

I think things are already calming down, but I agree 100% with Fireblade. Jari needs to make publicly his own announcement and version of the whole situation. And, so does Tolkki. I think that would stop, or at least slow down alot of the gossip, speculation, and rumors circulating right now.

Nope. I had a conniption fit when he got married. Don't you remember? I bloody well freaked out. "Well, someone just got married. There goes the neighborhood."

But i'm not completely ready to wholeheartedly vouch for that theory yet. I'm just waiting on an official word.

Yes you're right. But I'm actually only giving what I "feel" about it. I don't mean that what I said is THE truth, but that's my own theory.
For ex, why a musician would tell things like that to tabloids instead metal magazines or make official statement. Something's really wrong in this IMO...

Still, the best is like you said to have an official statement.

I think CottonCandy and Soulforged_the_second have a interesting point.
