@nepi : I'm still hopeful too.

@NeonVomit : Hm, maybe next year.^^
yup i know, they are a pretty good team and i wanted to see a surprising world cup.NeonVomit wrote:

Czech Rep.... that was a shock! I was thinking they'd make it to the final 4...
What the hell was FIFA thinking? I understand about Czech Rep, I had very high hopes for them but USA 5th?! Since when did they achieve ANYTHING in football? They had a decent showing in 1998, but 2002 they only scored ONE goal and lost all their matches.... kind of like this time around! What the hell?Miguel_Ricardo wrote:That's why you don't have to trust the FIFA's list of best countries:
Czech Rep was 2nd, and USA was 5th!!
That's pretty much what I've been saying for almost a week.stratohawk wrote:This evening's winner will be the next World Champion, I think... Germany or Italy.
I think so that if today´s winner is Germany, then it will win the whole world cup too.Stealth wrote:That's pretty much what I've been saying for almost a week.stratohawk wrote:This evening's winner will be the next World Champion, I think... Let's celebrate, my friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still cannot believe it.... Let's celebrate Jürgen Klinsmann - he is the one and only!!!!!!!
I tell you one thing, my friend: Everybody in Germany knows that the indivdual players aren't as strong as the ones from other nations. But Lehmann was very strong as a goalkeeper, and don't mess with Klose - expect yesterday he was the best striker of the Championship so far. Anyways, you might have recognized that it was not the abilitys of the individual players, but the fact that they were (almost) the only team in this championship that REALLY played as a team. That was/is their strength.Stealth wrote: All of their individual players suck (Podolski, Klose and Ballack are stars?!?
Klinsmann was praised as a great leader, for some reason unknown to me.
Stealth wrote:Well, there was a lot of overconfidence surrounding the German team and German fans. I honestly haven't seen any team in the Cup so far that played really good football, and if you think so, then you haven't watched international games from 20 years ago. The truth has finally been revealed: Germany doesn't have anything. All of their individual players suck (Podolski, Klose and Ballack are stars?!? I think not; they are three among MANY like them). And before you say that I'm being biased, Argentina's team play sucked too. The problem with Germany is that this sudden feeling of overconfidence after getting some good results at home made almost every German think that they were going to win for sure. Klinsmann was praised as a great leader, for some reason unknown to me.

As an Italian citizen, I can only tell all of you this: Up yours!(hopefully you know what this means).

Ai tedeschi: Non piangere troppo per favore! FORZA ITALIA!!!
Stealth, mi amigo, what's wrong about the germans being happy because of overconfidence ? We usually don't have many reasons to be happy, or at least we can't find any. Being proud of our country, showing our flag and singing our hymn is pretty difficult, and you exactly know why.Warrior of Hell wrote:Stealth wrote:Well, there was a lot of overconfidence surrounding the German team and German fans. whats wrong? Italy did an unfair thing to Frings! And the FIFA said, that this was a mistake, to block him in the semifinals! The game has been cheated before it started! And dont mess with Klose! Who shot 5 goals in the WC?!
No! That's what I meant before, I don't think that Germany played well as a team. Germany has traditionally had strong physical teams, and this was one of their weakest teams in recent history. As I was talking on the phone with my dad, we agreed on that: they are not the strong complicated team they used to be. Sorry, I'm sure we have different opinions on what makes a good team; I think that Germany, both individually and collectively, was not a good team. But as I said before, I think that no team nowadays is really good, strong and agile.stratohawk wrote:I tell you one thing, my friend: Everybody in Germany knows that the indivdual players aren't as strong as the ones from other nations. Wow... we might disagree about sports, which is absolutely okay to me. But this quote here contains some of the biggest bullshit I read for a long time!!Stealth wrote:Just make sure than in your quest for unity, you don't restore the old feeling of superiority of many decades ago. Bullying other countries mixed with German slogans (Deutschland Deutschland !!!! Mit dem Herzen in der Hand, und der Leidenschaft im Bein, werden wir Weltmeister sein) is a sign of that. Well, the slogan alone isn't, but mixed with other comments, it can be.
Agreed--the goalkeeping was very strong on Germany's side of the field yesterday. But the actual gameplaying just wasn't so good. Germany seemed to be having a serious problem with accuracy, which kept them from scoring AND ensured that they lost control of the ball to Italy's superior handling as often as possible.stratohawk wrote:But Lehmann was very strong as a goalkeeper..
