ummm, very weird game.
however, the RPG on internet are cool, when you can't go to play in a real group; and you can know many people there but the best option is play in a real group. When you try, you'll love it and you always want go to play in a real group.
Right now, i'm playing on four groups on internet.

I don't know if it qualifies

but, I love Online Tetris, Hangman, and Solitaire.
I don't think Webtv lets me play anything more complicated than that.

I play a game called AdventureQuest. It's actually just a one-player game, but it is online and it plays in the browser, which is nice. It's two-dimensional and campy as hell, but it gives me something to play on the run without having to tote my XBox around or anything.

I used to be a DM in some forum-RPG. Very huge, one of the biggest in russian net -
http://rolewood.ru/ - if it is not considered to be an advertisment +_+ After two years of mastering it pissed me off and I resigned =) And now about two weeks ago I became an ordinary player there. Damn, it is much better than to be a DM *_*

When I was young I had a friend who played text-based online RPGs. I think the one she played at the time was called Gemstone, or something similar. Do these kinds of things still exist or is everybody obsessed with graphics?

I remember those I used to have two of them, one was a text based he-man game and the other was based on Rambo
