Masterplan

Post by Ragehead91 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:22 am

Since I found no thread for them and they are one of my favourites, I'll open one.

Masterplan was founded by Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch after they were fierd from Helloween. They were joined by norweigian singer Jorn Lande. In 2002 they recorded their debut Album with the help of Children of Bodom Keyboardist Janne Wirrman and bassist Jürgen Attig. Both left the Band after recording the first Album. For touring and subsequent recordings the former Iron Savior bassist Jan S. Eckert and keyboardist Alex Mackenrott were hierd. The selftiteld debut Album was released in january of 2003. It was a sucess and recieved mostly good reviews. The Band was awarded with the "European Boarder Breakers" award in 2004. The Next Album Aeronautics was recorded in late 2004 and released in early 2005. They went on tour with Circle II Circle and Rob Rock. During the writing of the third Album in 2006 the Band parted way with singer Jorn Lande, citing "musical differences" as the reason for the split. The split was amicable enough that Jørn agreed to perform four previously arranged live appearances before departing although two of these were eventually canceled by the promoters. A few months later Uli Kusch announced his depature from the band due to personal problems with Roland Grapow. A few days later the Band announced the replacements for Jorn and Kusch: Mike Dimeo, former singer of Riot, and Mike Terrana, who is drumming for half Europe. The third Album entiteld MK II was released and while successful, some fans claimed it never captured the original Masterplan magic that Jørn Lande brought. Some fans were puzzled by the "Americanization" of the sound of the band and to this day long for the return of Jørn Lande. The went on tour as support Band for the NWOBHM Legends Saxon. After that the Band took a break and Roland Grapow went on producing other Bands in his Studio. In November of 2008 they announced that the break is over and they they've started to work on the next Album. On January 11th 2009 Mike DiMeo confirmed on his MySpace page that he had parted ways with Masterplan. In a statement on the Band website Roland stated that they've already found a new singer and that they will reveal his name soon. On January 21st 200 the dutch rock & metal magazine Aardschok confirmed the umours about Jorn Lande's return to his former band Masterplan.

I dunno Mike, my interests in this band disappeared a bit after Jorn left... he's an awesome voice! and to replace him is quite difficult.

Well, chances are high that Jorn will return. I would keep an eye on them if you liked them because of Jorn.

I just read about that yesterday. Man it'd be awesome if Jorn returned. In my opinion Mike did a really great job, but yea, Jorn is still the king.

Masterplan is a fantastic band, I love all their albums.

Me too :D .
Regarding Mike and Jorn. Jorn is a great voice of course, but Mike also have done a great job. I saw them live only with Jorn, so I can't compare it in this way, but I like MK II as much as I like the previous albums and I don't miss Jorn too much there...

Live Mike did a good job on his own song but he totaly raped the Jorn songs. He was sooo bad at singing them but still 3/2 of the Setlist were Lande songs.

That's possible...I haven't seen Mike with Masterplan live, but I guess that's the deal of every singer replacing someone to whom the fans are used to... :?

No! Please not Kiske! PLEASE! He is good but he doesn't fit Masterplan. Everytime I listen to Heroes I think he sounds out of place. He should focus on his Solo Carrere and the PV stuff. He is overrated anyway. He ist good and he did a good job in Helloween and the other bands he was with, but he isn't "teh best singer in metalz" ro "THE VOICE".

It isn't fred durst. They've digged out Elvis and plugged him on a car battery for a few hours and now he is working perfectly again.

After listening to some stuff from this Kelly Carpenter guy I really hope that he is not their new singer. I don't like his voice at all.

Okay, here a few singer that maybe could get the spot and my opinion on them:
Jorn Lande: I don't have to say what I think about him. He is the voice of Masterplan. And after that DiMeo Fail he has to return.

Kelly Sundown Carpenter: I've listened to the Album that he recorded with Beyond Twilight after Jorn left. This guy is horrible. If he is the singer the Band is dead for me.

Michael Vascera: I hope not. That guy is nothing special. I listened to the stuff he did with Malmsteen, Grapow and Joe Stump and I don't see whats so special about him.

Mats Leven: If it isn't Jorn I hope it is this guy. Leven rulez. He was awesome on the 2 At Vance and the 1 Fatal Force Album. He has defenitly a great voice and I think he would fit. So if it is not Jorn, I hope it is him.

Bjorn Johansson: I also hope it is not him, but he actualy manage to sound like Jorn. He did that pretty well on the Ride the Sky album. I don't know if this was on purpose or by accident, but he managed to sound very much like Jorn. But even if I liked Ride The Sky, I hope it is not him.

Rick Altzi: He is currently working with Thunderstone and At Vance. While not being as good as Hartmann or Leven, he still has a good voice. But I don't think he would be a good choice for Masterplan.

Jeff Scott Soto:...........Nah!

Mark Boals: He is actually pretty good but still, nah!

Joe Lynn Turner: Also very good but................Nah!

Göran Edman: Could be. I hope not.

Doogie White: Again I hope Not.

I think we are through with all the Ex-Malmsteen Singer, aren't we? So who is left?

Michael Kiske: Maybe as quest singer but not Full-Time member. With his "Metal and loud guitars are EVIL" attitude I don't think he wants to join a Metal Band fulltime again. He said that he wants to tour again, but he wants to start carefuly with his own music so I don't see him as their new Singer.

I just don't like his voice at all. He sound horrible on those Beyond Twilight songs. Compared to Jorn from the previous Beyond Twilight Album he is very bad. Like I said, if he is the new singer Masterplan is dead for me.

well i guess the band will do what it wants and if it dies for a few fans they will have to accept that. i think that jorn is on so many millions of cds that a few bands can afford to die and people can still get their fix of jorn.

From Masterplan forum:
I asked Jan in a mail when they will reveal the name of the singer and he wrote: "I guess everybody knows already who it is." It made me even more confused.
So It will be Jorn I guess! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I am so sick about this fucking off puting that the band does! Give us news about the things we give a shit about! I maybe sound heartless, but if a bandmember isn't life-threatening injured, I don't give a shit! GIVE US NEWS ABOUT THE SINGER OR ABOUT THE ALBUM! NOT THIS SHIT!
