After working with Finns for so many years, do you speak some Finnish or understand Finnish?

I understand about 5% of spoken finnish. Often they are the important 5%. Often also they are not. It's how it is.

I can't speak any, literally none as far as cohesive everyday grammatical sentences. I can "parrot" many Finnish phrases (many of them rude) but cant really speak.

In the band we speak English. Like i said i understand minimal Finnish and I am somewhat versed in German, so often i can participate in a conversation where I listen in German/Finnish and reply in spoken English (because everyone knows that).

I have tried to understand what the Finns say myself, but it's completely hopeless I think it's a very beautiful language and like to listen to someone speak it, but prefer Swedish and Norwegian At least most Scandinavians understand each other because of language similarities.
Kind of a "good thing" then, that Jörg is also in the band, so it wouldn't be just you as the non-Finn ("outsider").

This is fun and I will go on blogging here. Someone wondered why you could not see me in Rome. I was there of course but I spend most of my time with Josse -the pope to you-. He had some problems with his lavatories so I helped him. There was some black-white-gray smoke then and the romans asked themselves what the hell was going on. Did the Vatican vote a new pope or what??They gathered in thousands and Josse had to calm them at the balcony. I was standing in the background roaring with laughter. It was a really rewarding trip to the city of the seven hillocks.
I must also tell you that our splendid and talented Lorri has made a video of all this and it will be shown in this cinema very soon.

Hi! I just had a call from Finland and I am not sure I understood everything, so maybe we have to be a bit skeptical. But, but! In any case he told me that Josse preordered 50 ex of Polaris. He is as we all know a power-metalfreak but this surpasses all our expectations. There is also some talk about a concert in an annex to the big Romepalace. But sorry to say it is not for unchristian ears and only for the personel. However I will not believe it before I got it confirmed from an englishspeaking person and I advice you not to shout and cheer before we know it is all a true story.

Josse just called from some arabstate. He had listened to POLARIS and he loves it. The best record he has ever heard. We are of course very content with his enthusiastic respons and happy to have his support and blessings. He doesn't have it that easy on his journey and he needs to listen to good music when things are rough around him .
